General Employer Action Plan

General Employer Action Plan Based on the Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation

At Mitsui-Soko Express, we respect the work-life balance of each of our employees. In order to enable women work with purpose, use their skills, and have long, lively careers, we have established and will implement the following action plan based on Article 8 of the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.


  1. Plan Period
    April 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2021 (5 years)
  2. Our Issues
    1. Low ratio of women in management positions
    2. Women work half as many continuous years as men on average
  3. Goals and Initiative Details/ Implementation Period
    • Goal 1: Increase female managers from our current 3 to at least 6 (9%) by March 2021
      • April 2016 - Keep the ratio of female participation in training sessions at least as high as the ratio of women in the company
      • July 2016 - Identify and select next generation female management candidates based on personal statements and meetings with superiors
      • April 2017 - Hold separate training sessions to cultivate female managers
      • April 2018 - Incorporate proactive promotion of female employees to management positions into our personnel rotation
    • Goal 2: Reform our system and create an environment where women can continue working
      • April 2016 - Offer more flexible work arrangements within the scope of current rules (proactively ease requirements for variable/ reduced work hours)
      • October 2016 - Consider/ enforce new rules for employees working reduced hours due to childcare or caregiving (offer even more flexible work arrangements)

General Employer Action Plan Based on the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children

In order to establish employment practices that enable employees and their families to lead physically and mentally healthy, balanced lives and exercise their abilities while both working and raising children, we have established and will implement the following action plan based on Article 12 of the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children.


  1. Plan Period
    April 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2019 (3 years)
  2. Our Issues
    1. Low in-company awareness and limited use of maternity and childcare leave and their associated benefits, insurance premiums, etc.
    2. Benefits available to fathers at the time of childbirth need improvement
  3. Goals and Initiative Details/ Implementation Period
    • Goal 1: Spread in-company awareness of maternity and childcare leave and their respective benefits and insurance premium exemptions
      • April 2016 - Preparation of internal explanation materials, public dissemination, survey of various systems based on law
      • April 2017 - Creation and dissemination of internal brochure on institution
    • Goal 2: Expand and enhance the leave available to spouses (fathers) at the time of childbirth by March 2019
      • April 2016 - Conduct preliminary surveys and discussions on system design
      • June 2016 - Consider and implement partial revisions to current regulations
      • April 2017 - Design, establish, and announce the new system within the company
