CASE 01

Proposing End-to-End Establishment of Logistics Centers for Imported Medical Equipment

MITSUI-SOKO Group was commissioned to build a logistics center for a global medical device manufacturer and at our domestic base we provided integrated support for the import, storage, labeling, visual inspection, and delivery of medical devices manufactured overseas.

By sharing the strengths of the MITSUI-SOKO Group's business companies, including expertise in operating logistics facilities specializing in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, know-how on system construction at the time of base launch, and field capabilities to handle products from various industries, we were able to swiftly launch a new logistics center and establish an operational scheme. You can put your trust in MITSUI-SOKO Group to set up logistics facilities that meet the stringent base operation requirements of the medical equipment sector and to provide high-quality logistics services.

CASE 02

Emergency Air Transportation Response to Market Disruption in Marine Transportation

When a major Japanese chemical fiber manufacturer faced interruptions in procuring raw materials due to delivery delays caused by disruptions in marine transportation, MITSUI-SOKO Group provided support by utilizing emergency air transportation in close collaboration with the overseas bases of our MITSUI-SOKO Group companies. Rather than simply resolving delays by air transportation using regular cargo airplanes, we recognized that air transportation of a large volume of cargo would continue for an extended period of time, therefore negotiated with the airline to secure future flights for cargo operation and ultimately reduce costs. MITSUI-SOKO Group is also capable of meticulously handling the documentation and cargo quality maintenance that tends to become complicated when transporting large volumes of cargo by air. With our global network and specialized transportation know-how, you can be assured that our Group can assist in any emergency.

CASE 03

End-to-End Support to Establish a New Domestic Logistics Base and Environmentally Conscious Transportation Operations

MITSUI-SOKO Group provided end-to-end support to a Japanese manufacturer that had no experience in outsourcing other than transportation to logistics companies, right from the planning stage to establishment of a new domestic logistics base and adoption of environmentally-friendly operations. Based on our analysis from a supply chain management perspective, MITSUI-SOKO Group handled everything comprehensively—from planning the establishment of the base to proposing logistics plans and providing actual logistics operation services. The end result was not only establishment of a new base, but also providing solutions to the customer’s initial concerns of increased logistics costs and longer lead times. We also realized environmentally-friendly operations such as analysis through visualization of CO2 emissions and implementation of modal shift.

CASE 04

Comprehensive Support for the Establishment of an Animal Pharmaceutical Logistics Platform

MITSUI-SOKO Group provided comprehensive support from logistics planning to on-site operations for a client aiming to build a logistics platform in the veterinary field. In the past, veterinary-related logistics costs soared due to the complicated inventory management involved in arranging deliveries to multiple veterinary drug wholesalers in response to requests from individual companies. Capitalizing on our knowledge of warehouse operations and experience in building logistics platforms, MITSUI-SOKO Group worked with our customer to visualize the current situation, organize functions, and confirm the best course of action. We provide consistent support from the planning stage to actual on-site operations for our customers' major projects aimed at significantly revamping the entire commercial distribution and supply chain.

CASE 05

Smooth Marine Transportation with the Best Proposal For the Situation

In marine transportation to North America, many customers were unable to deliver their cargo due to delays in shipments from Japan caused by tight container shipping space and a shortage of empty containers, as well as offshore waiting caused by congestion at the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles in the U.S. In response, MITSUI-SOKO Group appointed a U.S. shipping company that owns dedicated terminals at the LA/LB ports and established a service via the related container terminals in Okinawa and Honolulu. This enabled smooth transportation to the LA/LB ports, avoiding offshore waiting time. MITSUI-SOKO Group's stable supply of space and empty containers allowed us to respond to our customers' urgent operations. Our customer base spans a broad range of industries due to our strength in proposing the most appropriate service for each specific situation.
